On your backgrounds, watch you perspective. Your horizon line on the bg is a lot higher up than it is on the character.
Also, try to make your pose more dynamic. A good way to look at it is if the silhouette wouldn't read (i.e. you couldn't guess what the creature might be from the silhouette), then you might want to consider something more extreme, with limbs posed further from the body.
And thanks much for you critique. I'll keep it in mind as I work.
